The award highlights a strategic and transformational transaction that has marked a turning point in the company’s history and reinforces its position as a global integrated water and energy utility.
Cox was one of the key players at the 2026 edition of La Noche de la Energía, the annual event organized by El Periódico de la Energía, after receiving recognition for its acquisition of Iberdrola México, one of the most significant corporate transactions in the energy sector in recent years.
The award recognizes a landmark transaction in the company’s evolution, further strengthening Cox’s position as a global integrated water and energy utility. The acquisition has enabled the Group to achieve a significant step change in scale, strengthen its presence in one of its strategic markets, and accelerate the delivery of the objectives set out in its growth roadmap.
The transaction brings to Cox a leading energy platform in Mexico, with more than 2,600 MW of installed operating capacity, a 12 GW generation project pipeline, and the country’s largest private energy supplier, with a market share exceeding 25%. It also reinforces the company’s commitment to Latin America and enhances its ability to drive long-term growth and sustainable value creation.
According to information disclosed by the company, the integration of both businesses is expected to generate revenues of €2.551 billion and EBITDA of €786 million, representing a doubling of revenues and a tripling of EBITDA compared with Cox’s figures prior to the transaction.
This recognition is also a tribute to the effort, commitment, and collaborative work of the teams involved throughout the process. The complexity of an operation of this scale required the contribution of professionals from multiple disciplines, whose dedication was instrumental in turning this project into a reality.
