Madrid, July 30, 2026. Cox,   a global integrated water and energy utility, has been awarded, through its Santa Cruz Wind project, a long-term wind energy supply contract in Panama, following a competitive process promoted by Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica, S.A. (ETESA), owned by the Panamanian state. The award contemplates the total supply of approximately 5.22 TWh of wind energy over a period of 20 years for more than 350 million dollars.

The project will make it possible to meet part of the electricity demand of the country’s main distribution companies, reinforcing the security of supply through renewable energy of new capacity. This contract reinforces Cox’s portfolio of long-term agreements and its commitment to the development of sustainable energy infrastructure in the region.

Thanks to this award, the company’s wind energy project, Santa Cruz Wind, which will have a capacity of 68.4 MW of installed power in a complex that includes 12 wind turbines with the capacity to generate 260 GWh/year, will make a significant contribution to the country’s energy transition, through the incorporation of new wind generation capacity and the reduction of emissions associated with electricity production.

Strategic commitment to Central America

This award is part of Cox’s expansion strategy in Central America and the Caribbean, a key region within its strategic plan, where the group continues to consolidate a diversified portfolio of renewable assets and long-term contracts that provide high revenue visibility and financial stability.

The transaction reinforces Cox’s positioning as an integrated utility, with the ability to develop and operate long-term energy projects in markets with stable regulatory frameworks, strengthening its renewable asset base and visibility of its future revenues.

“Santa Cruz Wind is a flagship project for Cox in Panama and a relevant milestone within our regional platform of Arco Central. This award reinforces our presence in the country, consolidates our commitment to wind energy and reaffirms our commitment to the development of sustainable, competitive and long-term infrastructures, capable of contributing to the energy transition and sustainable growth of the region,” said Martín Sucre Champsaur, Regional Manager – Central Arc – Central America, Caribbean, Colombia and Ecuador – of Cox.
