- Promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Junta de Andalucía, it was held from January 27 to 31 to promote the presence of women in these sectors in Andalusia.
Cox has specific mentoring programs aimed at both young university students with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers, as well as school-age girls. On January 31, Cox participated in the event “Good practices: women in industry and mining”, promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines, and framed in the celebrations of the Week of Women in Andalusian industry and mining.
With the intention of promoting and recognising those industries that implement good practices in terms of equality and integration of women and that serve as an inspiration to others, the Ministry has launched the “Catalogue of good practices in equality in Andalusian industry”, which includes the good practices of companies that adopt equality as an ethical and social principle. and contribute to continue advancing in the participation of women in Andalusian industry and mining.
The event was attended by the Minister of Industry, Jorge Paradela, accompanied by the Deputy Minister, Cristóbal Sánchez, and was moderated by the Secretary General of Industry and Mines, José Javier Alonso. Cox participated along with other industries such as Acerinox, Atlantic Cooper, Cobre Las Luces, Keyter, SandfireMatsa, Moeve and Takahata.
Led by our Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Roser Castelló, Cox’s culture in DEI was highlighted. Castelló, reviewed in his speech the programs that our company promotes and the entities with which it collaborates, such as the School of Engineering of Seville or Womenalia. Roser Castelló placed special emphasis on the Mentoring programs that Cox carries out and that are aimed at both young university students of what we call STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), as well as school-age girls. At Cox, we pursue a double objective: on the one hand, to inspire and motivate in STEM; and on the other, to develop programs for the development of leadership and female talent and contribute to generating close references.
With these programs, inserted in our DEI policy and objectives and framed in our calendar of activities, we seek to achieve a more egalitarian society, where the key is really only to look at talent, without any distinction, neither gender, race, age, nor any other condition.
At Cox, experience tells us that we must believe in and work on equal treatment and opportunities and commit to creating an environment where talent can develop. In the words of Roser Castelló “for us this is a cultural issue in the company, it is a matter of awareness. In the business world, it is important that diversity and equality are a company culture. And this is where institutions and companies must traction, they must help by being ambassadors of the culture in diversity, equity and inclusion and references and promoters of good practices”. And, in this sense, it is essential to carry out training in diversity, awareness of biases and inclusive leadership, where we work closely with different collaborators and ambassadors such as the Adecco Foundation or the Más Mujeres Foundation.
