Cox recognized with the Andalucia Capital Award of Onda Cero in the Sustainability category

Seville, December 5, 2025. Cox has been distinguished as a Sustainable Company at the VIII Andalusia Capital Awards 2025, organized by Onda Cero Andalucía, a recognition of the company’s commitment to the energy transition, responsible water management and industrial sustainability.

As one of the great promoters of the energy transition and industrial sustainability, this is how our company, Cox, was introduced to collect the Capital Onda Cero Andalucía award in the category of Sustainable Company. The award ceremony took place on December 4, at the Auditorium of Caja Rural del Sur (Seville).

The Sustainable Company award to Cox was presented by Antonio Vega (Garántia) and Antonio Castro (Andalucía TRADE) and collected by Cox’s Global Director of People and Organization, Pablo Barrasa.

“At Cox, we believe that it is possible to grow without sacrificing the care of the planet and that working every day to move towards a greener economy is not only a challenge, but our responsibility, and we demonstrate it.” With these words, Barrasa collected the statuette on behalf of the company. And he continued: “Things do not happen by chance, and neither does sustainability. It is Cox’s human team, with its capacity for innovation and constant work, that makes us leaders in renewable energies, energy storage, green hydrogen and responsible water management, positioning this company, with its Andalusian heart, at the centre of the map of large energy companies and infrastructure companies around the world.  trying to change the planet so that those who come after us find something much better and sustainable over time.”

The Andalusia Capital Awards recognise excellence, innovation and contribution to the economic and social development of the community by Andalusian companies, managers and self-employed workers. The awards are given to protagonists of the radio program “Andalucía Capital”, directed by the journalist Diego García Cabello and broadcast by the Andalusian network of Onda Cero.

The jury for the awards was made up of representatives of Onda Cero Andalusia, business schools such as EOI, San Telmo Business School, Loyola University Andalusia, CEU and Instituto de Estudios Cajasol, as well as institutions and entities such as CEA, Ontier, CTA, ATA, PwC, Club Cámara de Sevilla, Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Seville, and the companies Caja Rural del Sur and Coca-Cola.

This recognition consolidates Cox as a benchmark in the promotion of a sustainable energy model and in the responsible management of essential resources such as water, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the development of innovative solutions that generate a positive and lasting impact in Andalusia and in the territories where it operates. Cox continues to advance its mission to lead the transition to a more efficient, resilient and environmentally friendly future.

During his years at Macquarie, he also held board positions in the several investments made by Macquarie which covered energy, public private partnerships, roads, and telecom companies. In addition, his previous involvement at financial institutions include positions in the investment banking teams of Deutsche Bank’s M&A group in New York, and Citibank’s M&A group in Mexico.

Other former relevant positions include his role as independent member of the investment committee of the Instituto del Fondo Nacional de la Vivienda para los Trabajadores (Mexican mortgages and housing government agency).

Presidente Ejecutivo de Cox, tras iniciar su andadura profesional en el sector inmobiliario y de la construcción, en 2010 fundó Grupo El Sol en Panamá, especializado en operaciones de minería, cemento, infraestructuras y energía. Con el tiempo, la empresa se convertiría en el mayor proveedor de arena de la UTE responsable de la ampliación del canal de Panamá. Posteriormente, pasó a liderar las fases de oferta y desarrollo de Rainbow 50: el proyecto fotovoltaico de mayor envergadura ejecutado en América Latina hasta aquel momento.

Ha recibido varios galardones por su contribución al mundo empresarial en España, entre ellos el Premio del Certamen Nacional de Jóvenes Emprendedores 2018. También ha sido distinguido como uno de los «100 latinos más influyentes comprometidos con la acción climática» y uno de los «100 españoles más creativos del mundo de los negocios» según la revista Forbes. Actualmente, es miembro del Consejo Internacional de la San Telmo Business School y preside el Consejo Asesor de la Fundación Scholas para Panamá, Centroamérica y Caribe.
