Our sincere farewell to Aldo Olcese

We deeply regret the passing of Aldo Olcese Santonja, Vice President of North Africa at Cox.

Born on March 16, 1957, in Tetouan (Morocco), Aldo Olcese was a distinguished Spanish economist and businessman, renowned for his commitment to corporate social responsibility, humanistic capitalism, and his unwavering advocacy for a strong civil society.

An extraordinary person—vital, hardworking, resilient—he believed in people and was convinced that things could always be done better.

A “Cum Laude” PhD in Financial Economics and a graduate in Economics and Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Olcese was a Full Academician of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences (RACEF), becoming the youngest academician in Spain at the age of 43. He was also a Full Academician and Vice President of the European Royal Academy of Doctors.

Olcese was a pioneer in Spain in advocating for humanistic capitalism, understood as the pursuit of the common good from private interest. A key figure in corporate social responsibility in Spain, his Treatise on Corporate Social Responsibility: A Proposal for a New Responsible and Sustainable Business Economy was instrumental in the adoption of social responsibility by major Spanish companies. He published more than ten books on good governance, a field in which he was also recognized as a leading authority.

Throughout his career, Olcese held high-responsibility positions. He was Chairman of the Advisory Boards in Spain of Société Générale Bank and T-Systems (Deutsche Telekom Group). He also chaired Fincorp Mediación, his own investment and corporate advisory firm, and served as Senior Advisor at the investment bank Alantra.

His legacy will endure in the business and academic fields, where his vision and leadership left an indelible mark.

Rest in peace, Aldo. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends from the entire Cox team.
