Madrid, October 10, 2026. Cox has launched Fundación Cox, a new global organization created to foster community development and generate opportunities for future generations through initiatives in education, well-being, culture, environmental stewardship, and social inclusion. Through its creation, the Group strengthens and expands its commitment to generating social value in the regions where it operates.

The Foundation’s work is structured around five strategic pillars: community, well-being, education, culture, and the environment. Its creation provides structure, continuity, and renewed ambition to Cox’s social commitment by promoting programs aimed at improving quality of life, advancing equal opportunities, and contributing to the sustainable development of communities.

Mexico has been chosen as the first country for the presentation of the Cox Foundation and the rollout of its initial initiatives. The Foundation plans to invest MXN 275 million in the country through 2030 and continues a long-standing social impact track record that has already benefited more than 5.3 million people. This legacy includes initiatives such as Luces de Esperanza, which brings solar energy to vulnerable communities; México Brilla, focused on the sustainable lighting of historic heritage sites; Impulso STEM, which encourages interest in science and technology among students; and DestElla, a program dedicated to promoting equal opportunities and female leadership through sport.

The official launch of the Foundation took place at the High Performance Center (CAR) in Mexico City during an event attended by Enrique Riquelme, Executive Chairman of Cox, and Mikel Arriola, Commissioner of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). During the event, Riquelme highlighted the Foundation’s purpose of advancing community development and creating opportunities for future generations, while Arriola emphasized the value of the partnership between the two organizations in promoting inclusion and social development through football.

“Fundación Cox is born from a clear conviction: to put our capabilities at the service of society and help create opportunities where they are needed most. At Cox, we believe that business development and social development must advance together, and we want to promote initiatives that strengthen communities and leave a positive and lasting legacy for future generations,” said Enrique Riquelme.

The Foundation will progressively expand its activities across the different regions where Cox operates and plans to officially present its project in Spain before the end of the year.

Fundación Cox first initiative in Mexico: La Energía del Fútbol

As part of this roadmap, La Energía del Fútbol will be the first initiative promoted by the Cox Foundation in Mexico, in partnership with the Mexican Football Federation. The program will use sport as a tool to foster inclusion, social cohesion, and personal development among children and young people, promoting values such as effort, discipline, respect, and teamwork.

The initiative includes the rehabilitation of 25 sports facilities over the coming years, with the aim of restoring community football fields and transforming them into safe spaces for gathering and participation. The project will also include the training of community coaches, the provision of sports equipment, and the organization of clinics, tournaments, and grassroots football activities to encourage sports participation and talent development.

During the presentation, Mikel Arriola, Commissioner of the FMF, highlighted the importance of this partnership in expanding access to sport for younger generations. Arriola emphasized that the restoration of sports facilities will create spaces for social interaction and learning while helping to strengthen the social fabric of local communities. He also stressed the importance of coach training and family involvement to ensure the long-term sustainability of these initiatives.

This collaboration represents the next step in the relationship between Cox and the Mexican Football Federation, which began in May 2026 when the company became an official sponsor of the Mexico National Team in the renewable energy and water categories. The two organizations are now expanding their partnership into the social sphere, combining their capabilities to bring sport to communities with limited access to sports infrastructure.

Under the motto “Together We Transform Communities,” La Energía del Fútbol seeks to turn restored playing fields into spaces for connection, learning, and opportunity, where sport contributes to the well-being and development of future generations.
